Black History Month

MAN is excited to present our Black History Month Celebration in February 2014. Our supporters and local community are invited to participate and increase their awareness of the positive impact that the African American and Black community have made on society. Featured events include cultural performances, social and educational events.

Annual Fundraising Dinner Gala

In its twenty five years, this Marquis event helps to honor and celebrate individuals who give back to the community while helping to raise scholarships funds for the organizations scholarship program. In years past MAN has honored individuals including: New York Football Giants’ players Justin Tuck, David Diehl, and Kevin Boothe.

MAN Youth Basketball Camp

In order to increase our outreach during the summer months, MAN is interested in building upon the success of the already sustainable football camp model and introduces the community to additional sports programming. MAN is looking to partner with local colleges or universities to create a program with a basketball team to help share the team’s work ethic, drive and sense of togetherness to help guide a group of young boys and girls. While the program is in the development stage, it would be modeled similar to the football camp in that it would be a one day program to provide those children with limited opportunities an outlet to experience a healthy and positive experience.

MAN Youth Football Camp

The MAN Youth Football Camp was created to serve as a recreational tool targeted to approximately 300 children between the ages of 7 – 14, children with a limited opportunity to experience healthy, positive recreational outlets during the summer. The one-day clinic includes non-contact football instruction, an autograph session with New York Giant Legends, and the receipt of a Camper Spirit Pack, lunch, and a day on a legendary pro stadium field. Open to both girls and boys, the clinic remains completely free of charge for all who register on a first come and first serve basis.

Golf Outing

MAN has hosted this fundraiser outing in the years past where corporate supporters and individuals gather for a fun day of great golf and fundraising for a much needed cause. MAN is looking to host an outing again in late 2014. Check back for more information!

SAT Prep Course

MAN has conducted this program in years past in cooperation with Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). The University offered a 30 hour SAT review and preparation class that focuses upon that which has been highlighted most recently on the tests, as well as sample tests. It is a first rate production that readies the students for the actual experience. Fifteen students were chosen to participate. The first efforts, eight years ago, was held at FDU for a group from Paterson’s High Schools, while the latest was sponsored by the Newark Boys and Girls Club on site for 15 students from Newark. MAN is working to reinstate this program for 2014.

Thanksgiving Senior Luncheon

This yearly event is traditionally held at two locations in New Jersey: the Heard AME Church in Roselle, New Jersey and St. Lukes Baptist Church in Paterson, New Jersey. Affiliated with the Paterson Senior Citizens Community Health Center, on a day or two before the start of the Thanksgiving holiday, MAN members gather together to serve the seniors of Paterson a Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings. Food is served, games are played, door prizes and favors to all are handed out, and even songs are sung. This event, in its twenty fifth years, is a wonderful way for MAN to celebrate our seniors in the community while providing a platform for those both young and old to interact and demonstrate the importance of giving back to those less fortunate.

Holiday Toy Drive

Through the efforts of our founders, Harry Carson and George Martin, throughout the years the organizations of Mattel Toys and WWE have been large sponsor of this program by donating over 400 toys and games for children and families in need during the holidays. In recent years we have also developed a relationship with the retail store Macys who too has been a large contributor to help us to provide smiles to faces of Newark, NJ based New Hope Day Care Center, families associated with St. Ann’s Church, families associated with the Newark Police Department as well as other in need families throughout Essex County, NJ.
