2014 Annual Children's Toy Drive

MAN ended its successful 2014 year hosting a holiday event in our Annual Children’s Toy Drive. It was overwhelming success. MAN played holiday host to more than 100 children in the Newark area, divided between the “Leaders for Life” organization and Eagle Academy. The children enjoyed the entertainment of Artie the Magician, pizza lunch and presents to celebrate the holiday season. Additionally, because of our successful toy drive, MAN was able to provide an additional 200 of its overflow toys to St. Ann’s Day Care Center in Newark, NJ. Truly this has been another remarkable holiday occasion to the delight of local children.

2013 Annual Seniors Thanksgiving Day Feast

On November 20th and 21st 2013 marked the 21st Annual Seniors Thanksgiving Day Feast as provided by Minority Athletes Networking, and created by MAN’s co-founder Mr. Harry Carson.  MAN member George Riley presided over the Heard AME Church feast in Rosell, NJ and reported back that it was a huge success.  This year’s event in Paterson witnessed MAN partnering with a brand new ally in the form of St. Luke’s Baptist Church in Paterson, who provided a marvelous setting for this impressive historical occasion.

MAN proudly provided a complete Thanksgiving Day feast consisting of turkey, with all the trimmings, entertainment, autographed t-shirts and a special individualized gift for all attendees, which embraced more than 100 deliriously happy seniors. The occasion also marked the pleasant initiation of new MAN members Eileen and Michael Ryan who selflessly participated and contributed by providing their unique Thanksgiving Day dinner holiday specials complete with desert. Thank you Ryan family!

Unfortunately Harry was unable to attend this year’s sterling event due to scheduling conflicts, but as per his usual, he provided his signature potato salad which sparked an immediate cook-off competition between the upstarts “Ryan Express”, Eileen, and the reigning champion Mr. Carson as too who had the better culinary specialty. Although the eventual outcome was in doubt, needless to say that the real winners of this impromptu competition were the many satisfied seniors themselves.
